Cannabis & Hydroponics Recruiting
As Mac & Fulton Talent Partners continue to expand as a recruiting business, we learn more about the many different horticulture jobs on the market. Similarly, we have a first-hand view of new hiring trends in the cannabis market.
Our horticulture staffing business can’t always facilitate hires for many of the talented candidates that we are in contact with. However, we like to give as much advice on the job market as possible. Ideally this guidance will be informative on your decisions relating to education, training, or search job specifics.
Over the last few months, our recruiting business has seen an incredible demand for HVAC professionals in cannabis, hydroponics, and horticulture. This is literally one of those hydroponics careers that keeps coming up for M&F Talent. As such, we thought it valuable to discuss opportunities in HVAC in more detail.
Hydroponics Career Segment: HVAC Systems
For those who did not know, HVAC stands for “Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.” HVAC systems are essential components in many Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) operations, including indoor gardening and greenhouse cultivation. Looking at CEA growing in both cannabis and food production, HVAC systems work to keep temperatures cool while simultaneously dehumidifying the air. These controls in temperature in humidity maintain ideal growing environments while keeping bugs, molds, and other pathogens at bay. As such, they are essential factors in any commercial CEA operation.
A number of companies manufacture and sell HVAC systems specifically for CEA cultivation, including cannabis. These units range in sophistication and cost, with large-scale, commercial HVAC systems selling for tens of thousands of dollars.
At M&F Talent, we are seeing a resounding need for those people who can design, install, as well as maintain HVAC systems for CEA applications. Similarly, the ability to sell HVAC systems and other cultivation technology to commercial cannabis growers is a much sought-after skill. That being said, if you are technically inclined – or simply aren’t sure where you might fit into cannabis or hydroponics – it might be worthwhile having a look at HVAC systems for a hydroponics career option. This is a technical career where talented professionals are continuously going to be in demand.
