Operations Manager – Farm & Greenhouse

M&F Talent is representing a commercial food production company operating large-scale farm and greenhouse facilities. Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day agricultural and greenhouse operations while driving productivity, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization. This role blends hands-on operational leadership with strategic planning and KPI-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee end-to-end farm and greenhouse operations, including planting, irrigation, harvesting, processing, and packaging.
• Manage greenhouse crop production, including basil and specialty produce.
• Lead crop planning, scheduling, and rotations to optimize yield, quality, and soil health.
• Supervise and develop teams ranging from 10–50 employees, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and corrective actions.
• Establish and track operational KPIs such as yield, labor efficiency, quality metrics, and order fulfillment.
• Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly operational reports to senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with organic standards, GAP, GMP, and food safety requirements.
• Partner with Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues and maintain full traceability and documentation.
• Manage inventory levels for inputs, packaging materials, and equipment.
• Coordinate with Maintenance to ensure facilities and equipment operate efficiently.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, focusing on cost control and profitability.
• Enforce health and safety standards through training, audits, and corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, sustainability, and resource utilization.
• Communicate operational performance, risks, and improvement plans clearly to leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in farm, greenhouse, or agricultural operations management.
• Strong background in greenhouse production and organic agriculture.
• Proven experience leading large, diverse operational teams.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, track, and report operational KPIs.
• Working knowledge of farm management software and ERP systems (NetSuite experience preferred).
• Solid understanding of crop management, irrigation systems, pest control, and soil health.
• Experience managing food safety programs and regulatory compliance.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, and travel between operational sites as needed.
