Position: Head Grower – Greenhouse
M&F Talent is working with a commercial greenhouse in the US Virgin Islands seeking an experienced Head Grower to lead crop production across a five-acre controlled environment agriculture facility.
The operation utilizes a Cravo default-open greenhouse system, requiring a grower who understands how to balance greenhouse technology with the realities of an open and highly dynamic growing environment. The Head Grower will take ownership of crop health, production planning, irrigation and fertility programs, environmental management, and cultivation team performance.
This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced commercial grower who is comfortable making data-driven production decisions while remaining closely involved with day-to-day crop operations.

Responsibilities:
- Lead all crop production activities across the five-acre greenhouse operation.
- Develop and execute production plans designed to meet yield, quality, and harvest targets.
- Manage irrigation, fertigation, nutrient delivery, pH, EC, and crop-specific feeding strategies.
- Monitor crop health and make timely adjustments based on environmental conditions, plant performance, and production data.
- Manage growing conditions within a Cravo default-open greenhouse environment, including ventilation, temperature, humidity, irrigation, and other climate considerations.
- Establish and maintain cultivation SOPs that promote consistency, efficiency, and crop quality.
- Identify crop issues early and implement corrective strategies related to nutrition, pests, disease, environmental conditions, or production practices.
- Maintain accurate crop records and track key production metrics throughout each growing cycle.
- Work closely with operations, facilities, food safety, and other departments to support overall greenhouse performance.
- Lead, train, and develop cultivation staff while establishing clear expectations for daily production activities.
- Coordinate planting, transplanting, crop maintenance, harvest, and crop turnover schedules.
- Evaluate production results and continually identify opportunities to improve yield, quality, labor efficiency, and resource utilization.
- Ensure growing practices align with company quality, food safety, and operational standards.
Qualifications:
- BA in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agronomy, or a related discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of commercial greenhouse growing experience, including experience in a leadership or senior cultivation position.
- Strong understanding of commercial irrigation, fertigation, plant nutrition, and crop steering.
- Experience managing environmental conditions in greenhouse or controlled environment agriculture operations.
- Experience working with greenhouse climate-control systems and production technology.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve crop health, nutrition, pest, disease, and environmental issues.
- Experience supervising, training, and developing cultivation teams.
- Strong understanding of commercial crop planning, production scheduling, and yield management.
- Ability to analyze production data and translate findings into practical growing decisions.
- Highly organized with strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule when crop or production needs require it.
- Experience with leafy greens or other high-value greenhouse crops is preferred; candidates with backgrounds in crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries, or similar commercial greenhouse crops will also be considered.
