M&F Talent is representing an innovative controlled environment agriculture (CEA) company seeking a Farm Director to lead the day-to-day operations of a growing hydroponic greenhouse business. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing crop production, facility operations, inventory, fulfillment, and team development while building the systems and processes needed to support long-term growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of hydroponic greenhouse operations, from crop production through order fulfillment.
  • Manage hydroponic growing systems, environmental controls, irrigation, fertigation, lighting, and integrated pest management (IPM).
  • Direct crop planning, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, crop rotation, and production scheduling based on customer demand.
  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to increase production efficiency, quality, and consistency.
  • Monitor plant health, troubleshoot production issues, and implement continuous process improvements.
  • Lead harvesting, washing, packaging, labeling, inventory, and order fulfillment to ensure accurate, on-time deliveries.
  • Manage procurement of seeds, nutrients, growing media, packaging materials, and other operational supplies while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Oversee inventory management, production reporting, and operational KPIs to support business performance.
  • Direct maintenance of greenhouse systems, equipment, and facilities while ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace safety standards.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and supervise farm employees, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with ownership on strategic planning, budgeting, operational reporting, and business growth initiatives.
  • Lead by example, contributing hands-on wherever needed to ensure the success of daily operations.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in greenhouse operations, commercial agriculture, food production, manufacturing, or another fast-paced operational environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, managing daily operations, and driving productivity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and scaling operational systems and processes.
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, hands-on management style.
  • Willingness to work alongside the team and perform operational tasks as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, Agribusiness, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with hydroponic systems, greenhouse production, or controlled environment agriculture (CEA).
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems, environmental controls, crop production, and integrated pest management.
  • Experience in startup or high-growth business environments.
  • Familiarity with food safety programs such as GAP, FSMA, HACCP, or similar standards.
  • Mechanical aptitude with equipment troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience in produce, food production, wholesale distribution, fulfillment, or other perishable goods operations.
