Senior VP of Commercial Sales

M&F Talent has a client in the CEA product space that is looking to hire a new Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales. This person will lead the CEA commercial selling organization to maximize our client’s presence and portfolio of CEA solutions with growers of all crop types.

The Senior VP of Commercial Sales will elevate the company’s presence and increase share growth in the commercial cannabis cultivation space. The role will also integrate & manage the selling efforts and structure of Canada and U.S. in this same commercial-focused arena.  This role will be a Senior-level leadership position and Executive Leadership Team member, which will influence and develop our client’s overall strategies and company culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and Directs Selling Strategies and Tactics, consistent with Portfolio and Brand Strategies in Commercial and Commercial Supplied Specialty Accounts
  • Develops selling standards and expectations to maximize profitable selling and hunter mentality in this space
  • Monitors & tracks sales performance vs targets/expectations and reports accordingly
  • Prepares budgets and approves budget expenditures
  • Develops a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of divisional sales goals and profitability
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
  • Staffs and directs a sales team and provides leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values
  • Prepares action plans for individuals as well as for the team to ensure prospecting/pipeline/quote management
  • Ensures the team meets or exceeds all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals, and sales
  • Provides timely, accurate, competitive insights to outsmart and outpace competition.
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
  • Recruits, hires, and trains
  • Maintains Sr. contact with all Major clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and engagement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management
  • Directly supervises 3 – 4 Sales Leaders within the Sales departments
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities by the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Commercial Agriculture Industry – Preferably Cannabis
  • Has Grower level relationships and understands the formula required to reach and close selling opportunities with growers/grows of all sizes and crops
  • Sr Sales Management Experience – ideally with Trade or Brand Marketing experience and Financial exposure to PNL management & macro-economic picture
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong level of self-awareness
  • Organizationally savvy/understand inner workings of organizations – private & public
  • Enjoys building, developing, and leading high-performance teams and has a strong record of developing people for higher roles
  • Embraces change management & calculated risk-taking
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university
  • A proven track record of success in achieving business targets and personal goals
  • Works effectively under pressure & in fast-paced environments
  • Values data-driven decision-making and is detailed oriented
  • Is biased toward barrier removals and problem-solving
