North American Sales Manager – Commercial Veg

M&F Talent has a horticultural supplies client who is looking to hire a new North American Sales Manager for their commercial vegetable division. This person will be responsible for leading a team of sales professionals by providing motivation and guidance to ensure that targets and company initiatives are met or exceeded.

The North American Sales Manager will coach and train the sales team to exploit all sales opportunities within the area of responsibility and execute business and pricing plans to deliver budgeted figures. With the guidance of the North American Sales Manager, the sales team will generate business through developing and maintaining relationships with customers, distributors, growers, and consultants.

Location: Kingsville, ON (Canada)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Team to effectively sell products and services using technical, organizational, and customer/market knowledge to influence customers.north american sales manager
  • Take ownership for achieving sales budget, volume, and price increases within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that adequate resources and focus is placed on all product areas to achieve goals.
  • Systematically register all activities in CRM systems, and ensure the team is keeping activities up to date in CRM.
  • Create/Implement comprehensive sales plans aimed at achieving sales goals with each individual account manager.
  • Guide/Coach/Lead each team member equitably and provide opportunities as well as effectively communicate needs, updates, and more from Senior Management.
  • Travel with the team as needed in territories to identify, create, maintain, and grow sales and sales strategies.
  • Cultivate a positive working environment that empowers and maintains job satisfaction.
  • Provide market intelligence and data as needed to assist in future strategic initiatives.
  • Develop potential market based on the yearly sales plan, sales action plans, and standards of performance.
  • Assist in providing BU Director with requested forecasts, market trend reports, team updates, travel planning, marketing ideas, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, select the appropriate medium for each message and use each medium effectively.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years industry experience in relevant working experience in similar positions, with management experience.
  • Strong written and spoken local language fluency and English at a high professional business level.
  • Excellent commercial sales skills and ability to negotiate.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Regular use of sales IT tools and good command of CRM system.
  • Ability and willingness to travel depending on position and responsible market.
  • Green/horticulture industry knowledge.
  • Understanding of greenhouse management.
  • Presentation, training, and coaching skills.
  • Understanding of finance/margin/price.
