National Sales Manager – Hort Tech

M&F Talent is working with a client in the horticultural consumer products field that is looking to onboard an experienced National Sales Manager in the United States. Our client is internationally established in the hydroponics and horticulture industries with cutting-edge tech solutions for modern horticulture operations. Our client’s product base includes solutions for PH monitoring, water quality testing, environmental controls, and more.

The National Sales Manager is responsible for leading a geographically distributed sales team and an ecosystem of partners in profitably expanding channels and direct sales of our client’s hardware, software, and services across crop types and growing environments.

Location: Mountain Region (United States)

Responsibilities:

  • Create, meet, and exceed your personal sales target
  • Provide the most senior point of escalation for high-value key accounts and or technical/ complex direct sales
  • Proactively build relationships and partnerships with top decision-makers within key accounts
  • Work to create, develop, and implement the new sales acquisition strategy that our client delivers the strategic market expansion plan to acquire new clients and drive further business growth
  • Control sales budgets and team travel allowances
  • Provide leadership, and guidance and teach strong sales skills including the ability to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual targets
  • Proactively identify skill gaps or resource needs and provide the tools and training critical to success
  • Attract, recruit, train, and retain exceptional sales talent as needed
  • Monitor sales performance: activity, pipelines, forecasts, and closed-deals to ensure quota attainment
  • Manage the sales funnel from prospect to close and create metrics to improve performance
  • Provide clear Return on Investment for all key sales initiatives including but not limited to any retail program development, travel, tradeshows participation, events, and other sales campaigns
  • Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly team forecasts
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting on all sales updates to leadership
  • Understanding of a CRM system to accurately track progress on forecasts, targets, and goals across your team
  • Set annual and quarterly sales targets for yourself and your team members that are in line with the business’s overall objectives
  • Forecasting revenue growth, analyzing KPIs, and managing the sales pipeline of regional channel partners
  • Confidently report on your own, and your team’s results
  • Create and implement a strategy to ensure seamless handover to customer success and or accounts, proactively work to develop new processes to streamline and improve this handoff
  • Ensure that the sales department collaborates with cross-functional teammates to achieve company objectives such as awareness building, demand creation, price policy adherence, product roadmap development, RMA, and thought leadership
  • Act as a brand and product advocate for stakeholders internally and externally by maintaining great product knowledge and consistently delivering market feedback to internal stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of consumer, competitor, and market trends
  • Work well cross-functionally (especially with Brand & Account teams) to maximize revenue-generating opportunities and campaigns

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or associates degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field would be advantageous but not required
  • Agriculture, CEA and/or Instrumentation sales a plus
  • LATAM experience is a plus
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in the sales process, excelling in lead generation, relationship building, and closing deals
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Able to inspire high-performance sales team through coaching, advising and motivating
  • Good time management, strategic planning, and organizational skills
  • Persuasive communicator with strong interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Able to inspire others to reach a common goal
  • Adaptable and willing to be hands-on
  • Energy and an entrepreneurial spirit
