International Business Development Director

Our client is an emerging leader in the horticultural technology market.  They are laser-focused on providing companies with the tools and technology they need to grow better, and in turn, support people’s overall health & wellness.  They are expanding their reach globally, and need to hire an International Business Development Director.

This individual will be work collaboratively and cross-functionally within the fast-paced team to identify market opportunities, trends, build financial modeling and forecasts, and new revenue opportunities that continue to create and support our strategic initiatives.

Responsible for analyzing competitive products, forecasting and monitoring industry trends, gathering consumer and competitor data, assessing new revenue opportunities, identifying potential strategic partnerships and supporting other strategic initiatives preparing reports and presentations for senior management, particularly in the areas of technology-based management tools and hydroponic farming operations.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead business development activities including strategic partnership and licensing.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced global business environment; cultural adaptability; high energy and motivation
  • Build a sound business plan with defined targets and goals.
  • Leverage existing agency, client and partners for organic growth in new markets
  • Deliver accurate forecasting, sales planning and strategy to C-level executives
  • Work cross-functionally to provide insight into operationalizing and supporting the business in new markets long term
  • Represent company at industry events and conferences to increase awareness of our global capabilities and to generate leads
  • Identify and develop plans to support additional hires as business grows
  • Strong analytical skills, using data, insights and market realities to inform your recommendations, and to regularly re-assess the tactics and resources required to achieve objectives
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working collaboratively with individuals across multiple functional areas of the business
  • Demonstrated ability to pragmatically handle complex negotiation situations in a fast-paced international environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to thoroughly and concisely advise senior management, as well as educate colleagues, build relationships and enhance the overall organization’s culture, diversity and performance

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years international business development experience
  • Experience in both developed and developing markets. Preference for someone with experience in MENA, ASEAN
  • Technology sales & licensing, franchising experience a requirement
  • Experience doing early market development of new technologies and/or nascent markets
  • Hands-on business development experience across the deal value chain from identification through to close and early revenue
  • MBA or related degree strongly preferred
  • Proficient in advanced PowerPoint and excel and power-point to generate reports and presentations
