Hydroponics Product Manager

Mac & Fulton Talent Partners has a client in LED lighting and grow equipment that is looking to hire a new Hydroponics Product Manager. This is an all-encompassing role that manages every aspect of the world-class products that they manufacture and sell.

This person will manage the current product lines to ensure that all products are up kept in terms of quality, compliance, and all essential and non-essential product updates.  They will conduct extensive R&D on existing products to find ways to constantly be improving on them, to ensure we are always moving forward and designing better products every step of the way. Finally, they will conduct close monitoring of competitors to make sure products are always keeping with the latest industry and marketing trends.

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Responsibilities:

• Identifies customer’s/industry’s needs by researching specific channels deemed relevant.
• Outlines the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications/requirements
• Analyses competitors’ products and marketing to identify industry trends.
• Generating new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes based on market research/trends as well as feedback from the company.
• Assesses target market by collecting data from the sales team.
• Manages all aspects of product development from the concept stage all the way through to the final boxed product.
• Works with Director of Sales to develop product sales strategies, sales resources, and potential new markets for future products.
• Compiles short-term and long-term product sales forecasts, product life cycle reports, and other product data for management review.
• Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by working with purchasing to review and adjust inventory levels and production schedules.
• Establishes strict schedules with engineering and manufacturing and drives both to meet specific project milestones to ensure timely delivery of new products to market.
• Monitors all existing products for manufacturer errors and implements solutions to solve these potential issues
• Works directly with the manufacturers to ensure accurate QC, and general upkeep of the relationship.
• Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
• Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production/sales costs, and anticipating volume.
• Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and/or contractors; following up on work results.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Future- Maintains product management staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
• Future- Maintains product management staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or another related discipline)
• Proficient with 3D design programs (SolidWorks, 3D AutoCAD, CATIA, Inventor)
• Familiar with photometry software such as Raytrace, Tracepro, Dialux, etc.
• Experience in the lighting industry a plus.
• Experience in agriculture/ horticulture industry a plus.
