Hydroponics Commercial Sales Manager

Mac & Fulton Talent Partners has a client in hydroponics product manufacturing that is looking to hire a new Commercial Sales Manager for the western United States. This person will be responsible for the support of assigned commercial sales territories, as well as contacting and supporting new commercial clients in the CEA & cannabis industries.

  • Assist clients with facility design and equipment layouts using the proper forms and departments.hydroponics commercial sales manager
  • Report to Commercial Sales Director.
  • Contact and qualify new leads from Lead Manager/CRM or vendor referrals.
  • Assist qualified leads with account application process.
  • Submit completed applications to Commercial Sales Director for Approval.
  • Work with clients on lighting layouts.
  • Clearly communicate client needs to avoid job change requests.
  • Work with clients on dehumidification layouts and irrigation layouts.
  • Advise commercial customers on technical support related to products: nutrient & growing medium, pest management or IPM techniques, other products as required or requested by commercial clients/leads.
  • Maintain maintenance calendar to follow up with clients to re-lamp or service equipment as recommended by manufacturer(s).
  • Prepare quotes for approval by Regional Commercial Sales Director
  • Coordinate lead times and delivery with client upon payment.
  • Assist Commercial Inside Sales Support with sales orders using established SOP including all relevant notes, terms, discounts, conditions, & delivery info for ordering processing.
  • Some direct vendor communication may be required for dropship orders, lead times, or modified pricing.
  • Manage backorders, returns, and refunds, with billing partner, Commercial Sales Director, Commercial Inside Sales Support, and purchasing.
  • Work in conjunction with Purchasing to reorder or adjust on hand QTY’s to support commercial clients on an ongoing basis.
  • Suggest product improvements based upon direct feedback or information gathered when interacting with commercial clients.
  • Contact existing customers on regular basis to support their endeavors, inform them of new products, etc., and discuss product innovations.
  • Establish close working relationships with customers.
  • Handle and oversee the day-to-day sales, questions, and concerns from customers.
  • Gather lists of consumable products from Commercial Clients.
  • Develop a delivery schedule of consumable products.
  • Communicate forecasting needs to Purchasing team to ensure the products are ordered and assigned to the Commercia clients orders.
  • Learn pertinent aspects of ERP software programs.
  • Develop extensive product knowledge and prepare competitive product comparisons.
  • Prepare sales analysis/reports of accounts as directed by Regional Commercial Sales Director.
  • Maintain detailed notes in CRM relating to accounts where applicable.
  • Visit clients or leads as directed by Regional Commercial Sales Director to discuss products, product support, samples, and pricing, quotes, layouts, including equipment troubleshooting, etc.


  • At least 1 year experience in sales or customer support.
  • Horticultural experience/knowledge and experience in Sales and Customer Support.
  • BA degree in business and/or related field preferred.
  • Computer proficient including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Develop familiarity with Access and ERP.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills including but not limited to- writing business letters, newsletters, and other printed communications.
  • Excellent People Skills.  Work well independently and as a team member.
  • Able to handle stress with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Willing to train in warehouse, returns, shipping and receiving.
