Hydro Commercial Accounts Manager

M&F Talent has a client in retail hydroponics product sales that is looking to hire a new Hydro Commercial Accounts Manager. This individual will be responsible for using independent judgment to best manage the support and service of our client’s highest tiered customer accounts. Our client conducts sales online and at brick and mortar locations.

The role includes managing set sales targets within a designated region; working with customer prospects to convert inbound leads to purchasing accounts; overseeing the performance and success of assigned outside partners, and maximizing the gross profit performance of all assigned accounts.

  • Establish, build, and manage relationships with key account stakeholders and purchasers by streamlining communication, providing solutions based on product and industry knowledge, and building trust.
  • Makes recommendations and implements solutions to the company and its commercial-scale customers related to business operations involving company-supplied products and services.
  • Develops, tracks, and manages positive direct relationships with commercial-scale producers, outside partners, and design-build professionals to achieve long term success.
  • Manages the development, overall sales, and performance of an assigned region and ensures all region-specific account details are kept up to date.
  • Manages all orders to cash activity for assigned accounts including but not limited to product selection, order entry, customer invoicing, payment notifications, and account follow-ups.
  • Manages logistics for customer orders by working directly with drop ship vendors and freight carrier(s) to quote out and book outbound shipments; resolves all shipment related discrepancies and delays.
  • Resolve conflicts and provide solutions to customers in a timely manner.
  • Assesses, determines, and implements all account-specific pricing by reviewing costs and anticipated volumes.
  • Expands sales mix by analyzing customer supply needs and identifying new vendor partners/product opportunities to develop/deliver value-added solutions for the company and its customers.
  • Improve GP performance by assessing existing vendor costs and working with purchasing or directly negotiating better volume pricing and terms.
  • Prepare, monitor, and maintain short-term and long-term sales forecasts for assigned accounts and regions.
  • Expand market share by working with sales leadership to develop and implement region-specific campaigns and sales strategies.
  • Converts inbound leads to purchasing accounts by managing a project/customer development pipeline. Monitor pipeline targets on a weekly basis; communicate bi-weekly results to sales leadership.
  • Suggest actions to improve sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company’s portfolio to competitors’ offerings/services.
  • Represent the company in the field at trade events and visit customers’ facilities as needed to manage client relationships and accounts.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by answering questions and accomplishing related results as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; and/or two to five years related experience
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Travel up to 25% of the time to designated territories and trade events as required.
  • Ability to influence people
