Electronics Technician

M&F Talent has a client who manufactures environmentally friendly, software-enabled hydroponic farms. They are in search of a new Electronics Technician.

Our client produces hydroponic farm kits for commercial dining operators nationwide – including, universities, grocery stores, and senior living communities. Our client is a high-growth, early-stage company based in Richmond, VA.

The Electronics Technician will maintain and support our client’s electrical components and systems by diagnosing issues in the field and manufacturing by tweaking designs to make improvements and/or avoid supply chain disruption.

Location: Richmond, VA

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose electrical issues seen with equipment in the field
  • Create and update thorough documentation, such as testing plans and results
  • Work with engineers to develop requirements, specifications, diagrams, and drawings for components and systems
  • Design testing routines to be implemented in-house or at 3rd party vendor sites
  • Design assembly or manufacturing routines and instructions
  • Work with manufacturers and vendors producing components and subassemblies
  • Work alongside mechanical engineers to interface engineered components with the rest of the product
  • Work alongside software engineers to interface engineered components with firmware written in C++ and Python
  • Comply with project plans and industry standards
  • Ensure procedural improvements after problems occur
  • Conduct product development via CAD, prototyping, and working with other stakeholders
  • Give support for existing products through root cause analysis
  • Provide engineering manufacturing support
  • Test, inspect, and diagnose issues with PCBs and cable
  • Maintain designs for PCBs and harnesses by making minor modifications and

Qualifications:

  • 2-year degree in Electronics or related field OR equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Practical experience with maintaining, but not necessarily designing, PCBs and cable harnesses
  • Experience collaborating closely with other departments, like software or hardware engineering
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Experience with following thorough documentation standards
  • PCB or cable harness design experience, particularly with Kicad software
  • Working knowledge of and experience with C++ and Python firmware
  • Experience working with an IoT product
