Last weeks’ midterm elections proved monumental for the United States cannabis industry. The benefits of this market expansion are twofold. For starters, there will be obvious opportunities for new business owners and cannabis employees in these new arenas of the industry. Secondly, as more parts of the United States open to cannabis business, outside investors feel more comfortable funding operations. This influx of cash means serious business scaling and subsequent job creation moving forward. Our cannabis recruiting department has a number of established relationships with these expanding businesses.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions

Other relevant political news for the cannabis industry involves the resignation of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Since taking office with the Trump administration, Sessions has been a potential threat to the cannabis industry, due largely to his anti-cannabis, drug war mentality. Things came to a head in early 2018 when Sessions rescinded the Cole Memo, an Obama era doctrine that protected MMJ States from federal prosecution. This move caused a shock-wave of concern across the cannabis industry, where rule-abiding business owners and employees alike feared potential prosecution from the federal government. Needles to say, Sessions’ departure has also quelled anxieties for outside investors. This move should should prove a boon for employment and investment opportunities in the cannabis space.
