M&F Talent has a client in horticulture equipment manufacturing that is looking to fill a Hydroponics Quality Control Tech job. Our client is well-established in the hydroponics/horticulture industry and has an expansive network in the U.S. and beyond. They manufacture cutting-edge cultivation technology and serve as a distributor for horticultural equipment and fertilizer companies across North America.

The position is responsible for utilizing electrical/electronic knowledge to troubleshoot equipment and handle customer relations for the horticultural lighting division of the company. The ideal candidate has a formal education in electrical training and has a working understanding of indoor gardening operations and grow room design. The M&F Talent horticulture staffing team feels this is a more technical career than seen with most horticulture jobs.

Location: Pennsylvania

Hydroponics Quality Control Tech Job Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and discuss the complexities of grow room design, including electrical layout
  • Work with customers in engineering cultivation areas for efficiency
  • Test ballasts and lights for deficiencies
  • Show basic understanding of: volt meters, ohm meters, and multi-meters
  • Comfortable with customer communications
  • Helps customers with troubleshooting issues
  • Trains other employees on horticultural lighting equipment
  • Travels domestically and internationally 6-8 weeks annually
  • Understands of hydroponics industry and indoor/greenhouse cultivation
  • Proficient with ballast to light connections
  • Speaks confidently about horticultural lighting spectrums
  • Work with customers in troubleshooting their cultivation technology/design
  • Is able to set up the proper lighting wattage and spectrums by the square foot for grow rooms and greenhouses
  • Discuss cost vs savings benefits of lighting technology with customers in cannabis cultivation, vertical farming, urban agriculture, and greenhouse production

Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge: electrical grow room design (minimum)
  • B.A. in engineering or electrical certification is desired but not required
  • Customer relations experience is a necessity
  • Communications skills and confident speaking ability a must
  • Willingness to travel
  • Comfortability speaking with clients in the cannabis business
  • Experience in the hydroponics industry with an emphasis on horticultural lighting strongly preferred
